Amazing, creative, beautiful, delicious! Plus an impeccably decorated dining room and excellent service. The prix fixe menu offers fun riffs on classic Chinese dishes made with seasonal ingredients and elevated to new levels of excellence. Michelin levels of refinement in terms of the food. Delicate, balanced flavors. Not over seasoned like so many places. Service was not pretentious but still knowledgeable. This is just a great discovery - definitely one of the best menus and best values for serious dining in Los Angeles. Wine and cocktails outstanding.
I want to like this place more than I did, because their ideas about flavor combination and creation are right in the wheelhouse of what I love. But there are some very odd ergonomics to a meal here. First, they have an amuse bouche, but it is optional and you have to pay for it - quite awkward for something traditionally understood as complimentary.
