My child is attending Sylvan - the program is great. I can see the difference in her school test scores and her comfort level with her school work has increased. She also enjoys going, which is half the battle with outside tutoring.
I have just read an ad at craig's list on line looking to hire teachers for the Sylvan center in Nutley NJ, and I have to say that I was pretty shocked to learn that they acctually are offering $13 per hour for the instructors. They also require that the person needs to be a certified teacher. I had an appointment there over the summer, I was charged $50 for the appointment to be told that it cost between $42-$50 per hour for instruction.
