Wonderful food service and atmosphere, BUT – I had a Desert Peach Martini (EXcellent) the Pork Tenderloin and the Pecan green beans. The pork had super flavor! It was smoked then cooked to a dot of pink & the green beans were crisp and very slightly sweet. But. I arrived with 3 friends at 6/Weds and the music. was. too. loud. very good food – Every food item I've ordered there, I've enjoyed- onion rings, buffalo meatloaf, everything. It's very busy so either get there early or be prepared to wait. Unfortunately, they have a problem with their draft beers (at least Miller Lite, Blue Moon & Sam Adams and Coors Light before they dropped it) - there's some kind of bad taste in each one. Bottled beer is fine. Just don't get the draft beer and you'll enjoy it!
Firebirds: Superb Burger...Terrible Fries – In my opinion, Firebirds has the best burger in Charlotte. Maybe anywhere. But the key phrase is "in my opinion". It also makes a difference whether cost is an issue or not. I've read reviews that claim Hardees or Backyard Burgers is the best. Well, for the price, yes they beat something like Wendys or McDonalds, but that's a whole different category. (In which case Five Guys takes that prize!). Great Food – I have recently moved here from Kansas City and a friend recommended Firebirds to me and my husband. Love the food and the portions were a perfect size. The atmosphere was very relaxing. How ever the welcoming by the hostess was a little cold and unfriendly. I would recommend Firebirds to my friends and family.
Forgetable, but good! – I never think about going to Firebirds, even though its right down the street, and thats a shame. The atmosphere is very Colorado Ski Lodge-ish and the food is good. The french dip's au juis is too salty...that's my only complaint. The meatloaf is yummy! Service is good and pricing is reasonable.
Best steak in town! – By far the best steak in town! The food is always great and received promptly. The staff are very attentive and helpful at offering suggestions if you can't decide what to order. Spinach artichoke dip is great! Very busy on Friday & Saturday nights so reservations are advised.
The best steak you will ever ever in Charlotte!!! – I have been to this restaurant a few times this last year. While you may have to wait for a table, it is totally worth your time. Once seated, service is great and the food is wonderful and the steak is better than Ruth Chris (I heard, I have no urge to travel farther to Uptown since finding this place). The atmosphere is relaxing and the cocktails are terrific.
Great First Impression – My wife and I visited Firebirds for lunch recently. We were completely satisfied with our meals and the service. It was lunch, so we had a steak sandwich and the French dip. Both were cooked to perfection and served with steak fries. I would not hesitate to order a dinner steak based on this experience. Great food, great value – If you are looking for great place with mid-high prices this is it. While it is not cheap it is only slightly more than the popular casual dinning chains. The steaks are very good, especially the chili rubbed delmonico, and the house salad is the very best. My wife and 5 year old daughter love it as well as I do.
