My father can no longer safely live on his own and almost died in their apartments. I asked if the lease could be broken as he can no longer live there and needs to go into assisted living. They have been completely inflexible even with a doctor's note and the only thing they would offer is a FOUR MONTH buyout. So his options are risk his life and stay in his apartment or go bankrupt because he will have to pay the buyout on top of his nursing home expenses. Happy Holidays from corporate America I guess.

My experience with their move-out process at one of their rental properties was less than ideal. Be aware that you may not receive your full deposit back, even after a long-term lease. In my case, they were not very forgiving about normal wear and tear, and seemed to expect the apartment to be returned in nearly new condition—despite three years of occupancy. Would not recommend them to anyone, I have had a laundry list of problems with Arbor Lakes, one of the properties they manage. They raise the rent substantially every year, but the water is constantly turned off to my building, showers with intermittent hot water, unsupervised children destroying the property and harassing tenants, and building code/life safety issues with my building that they have been dragging their feet to address for over a week.
