I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Fergus Place. Having my mother live here has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made, and that is incredibly hard to say. There has been constant turnover in General Managers, which shows in the lack of leadership and oversight. Activities for residents are minimal to non-existent, which greatly impacts quality of life. My mom’s stay at Fergus Place Retirement Home was short, but the love and compassion she received will stay with our family forever. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was a place where people truly care. We are Axon Extermination, a Canadian company that has protected hundreds of seniors’ residences for decades. Never have we encountered such dishonest and unethical behavior. In 2024, we were urgently called to one of there residence for a serious bed bug infestation. Seniors were at risk of bed bug bites in their own rooms. We returned over and over and completed the work — even without payment — because we refused to abandon vulnerable elderly residents. Nearly a year later, this operator still owes us over $157,000. Although the building is old the staff is excellent. The care my husband received while there for a short staycation was great and he said the food was very good. The staff are very caring, attentive and patient and everyone went out of their way to make sure he was safe, busy and received his medication on time. As he has early dementia I am very grateful for everyone at Fergus Place for allowing me to have a much needed vacation.
