I had a non-cancerous facial mole removed and was left with a much larger scar than I expected. When the wound later reopened (dehisced), the doctor covered my face to re-suture it. He said he put the covering there because he didn’t want to look at me, which felt dehumanizing on an already awful day. Earlier in the visit he volunteered comments about scarring and insurance that I found inappropriate and off-topic.
