Unless you are on the lookout for it, you are likely to walk right by the narrow passage between two brick buildings leading to this urban gem in the heart of Little Tokyo. It is well worth a momentary claustrophobic squeeze to get to. Budding out from the area's old, trusty Chop Suey restaurant, the Far Bar is an eatery-bar-patio all unto itself. The elegant simplicity of the place, clasped between two tall brick walls stitched across with strings of lights, invites one to lounge and linger, whether over a couple of sakes o... read more

Good drinks - go elsewhere for food. My first two trips to Far Bar were good (drinks only). On my third visit, I ordered food. Servlce was very slow and inattentive, meat was overcooked (but well seasoned), and the 'garlic fries' had only a tiny clump of garlic in one place. If I ever go back to Far Bar, it will only be for drinks.
cool place – My friends walked through this tight alley way and I was thinking "where are they taking me?" and we enter is amazing backyard/patio area of Far Bar. It was a great quiet spot to just hang out. I opted to get the Far Bar burger instead of sushi because I was told that they're not really known for their sushi so there I was in Little Tokyo having a burger. But I gotta say... that was one awesome burger. The bun was good and the meat was very delicious. The wasabi fries were good too but I'm not sure if it was for... read more
Citysearch Editorial Review – For those unfamiliar with the Little Tokyo scene, this bar gives just one more reason to check it out. But it's not just the Asian Zombie, Singapore Sling and Recharge cocktails that bring Angelenos to the far east side of the city. The eats here, from small plates of wasabi fries and curry beef pot stickers, to Loco and Aloha rolls also lure in crowds. Boasting the largest collection of Japanese beer in California, brew-loving patrons will also find a haven here. And if you're feeling gutsy, th... read more
Good Drinks Meh Eats – Happy hour drink prices are pretty good (i.e. $5 Hitachino and tall Sapporos) but the food was only okay. The chicken katsudon ciabatta was really dry and the shitake burger was too salty... though the wasabi fries were pretty good. The staff was nice and helpful and the lounge area is nice with a few tvs, a projector and hooks for girl's purses at random locations. But ultimately I'd come for the beer selection over the food selection.
