History Established in 2003. The Eviction Defense Network (EDN) was founded in 2003 by former Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles staff members Elena Popp and Ridge Gonzalez. Frustrated by the lack of funding at LAFLA which resulted in 98% of eligible clients being rejected, Elena and Ridge conceived a social entrepreneurial model to close the access to justice gap for tenants facing eviction in LA County.
