Editorial fromFounded in 1946, this beloved establishment serves classic Southern fare. Patrons are greeted as "Honey" or "Sugar," even though staffers often know them by name. Breakfast choices include biscuits, grits and sausage, and pancakes. And the…

Being an event planner and a long time resident of Decatur, when my client wanted southern food, I called Pete at Evans. The entire experience was awesome. Pete made sure we were completely satisfied with the service, price and food. Everyone at the event raved about the fried chicken, baked ham, cheese grits, mac & cheese and potato salad. The fried okra was just like my mom used to make! When setting up, Pete showed up the day before and took care of extra needed table cloths and anything else that we needed (even a table)... read more
Just Awful! – My father had been going to Evans about twice a day, almost every day before his death. I was in Atlanta about a day year ago and was treated like I had never been there before. Mike and Pete have to do alot wth customer service. The food is out of a can anyway. I wouldn't expect a free meal but after going to Evans with my father for such a long time it would have been nice. Tammy Lynn
Terrific Food! – I cannot believe that the other person who has reviewed this restaurant actually ate at this same restaurant. All menu items but steaks and salmon are UNDER $10. All of the food here is superb Meat & Two - especially the smothered chicken breast, the meatloaf, and the chicken livers. The servers can be a bit "senior" (and there's nothing wrong with that!) but find one that you like and stick with her or him. Been eating here for 20 years and hope to eat here for 20 more.
Reminds me of my elementary school cafeteria. But more expensive. – A friend told me that breakfast here was great and that may be true but Saturday lunch was highly disappointing. I ordered the pot_roast special with turnips and mashed potatoes as my side items. The roast was okay, but pretty salty to the point of hiding the meat flavor. The turnips tasted and looked like they had just been poured out of a can. The potatoes were the worst lacking any flavor, dry and obviously from flakes. If this meal had cost me 6 dollars ... read more
Food by mom, service by Flo: This throwback serves American standbys in true dive style. – The Scene This dingy diner looks like it's straight out of "Pulp Fiction," complete with an open kitchen and white-haired waitresses. It retains a devoted following of regulars, all greeted by name. Paper-reading professionals, young families and the odd Emory student stop by for cholesterol-laden, down-home American classics. The Food Breakfast is big here: pancakes, hash browns, ham, sausage, Canadian bacon--you get the idea. Eggs yo... read more
