Not suggested for special night or event – Had tried this spot for lunch and was pleased with interesting food. Called and made reservations for a birthday dinner. Owner made suggestions for flowers, table, birthday banner...I accepted suggestions and plans. Arrived for dinner...no knowledge of reservations noted. Waited an eternity for a table to be made available. Two stale, drooping, pink roses in tacky vase for male's birthday was put together at last second. (should have been red roses). Birthday banner? printed out (on... read more
Wonderful Experience – After having heard and read about The European Bistro, we finally had an opportunity to go there this past weekend and we were extremely impressed. It is much easier to get to and closer to Austin than we had realized. We went with a large party and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The wait staff was professional and attentive. More than half the party were children and the wait staff was very good with them as well. The waiter recommended a sampling of appetizers that were happily passed around. Gi... read more
The Best Get Away Restaurant in Town – Do you want private get away, causal atmosphere, and tasty food with a European flare? Then the European-Bistro is your best bet. The food is different but filled with traditional flavor. Desserts melt in your mouth and go great with a fresh cup of coffee, espresso or fruit drink. The atmosphere is filled with history dating back to the 1800s. This is Pflugerville's best hidden secret for food beyond the hassle of downtown Austin's warehouse district. Reservations are reccommeded but no... read more
Amazing beef gulyas and spaetzle – I love the building this restaurant is in. We went for lunch on saturday and there was only one other group there, it was dark and a little too quiet in there but the food was to die for. We ordered the beef gulyas with a side of spaetzle....yummm! Amazingly tender, melt in your mouth good...but soo lean. It was wonderful, I also has a garden salad with homemade tomato basil vinagarette which was soo unique and tasty. To be honest, i think the decor is out of date, bordering on tacky, but i... read more
all ranges of plates equally set to perfection – i was with a party of three, all of us enjoying the taste and freshness of the food. it was a wonder change of flavor! loved it!
Authentic – My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Thursday night. We were the only patrons for about an hour. We were served by a very cordial young man, who remembered serving our friend, who had recommended the Bistro. My husband and I had the homemade bread with the cheese spread, an outstanding cucumber salad, potato dumplings with the hunter sauce(marvelous) and wienerschitzel, (too much breading and not enough schnitzel), but tasty. The atmosphere is great and we loved the historic building. We have not found th... read more
GREAT 15th ANNIVERSARY!!! – My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last weekend, and it was incredible. It was our first time in, and he wanted to surprise me with a German restaurant (I grew up in Bavaria). They had a special area you can use for anniversaries and such, and it was very romantic (dimmed lights, candles, rose petals...lovely). We had a great German champagne for not much more than a bottle of wine. My husband and I split their salad sampler (LOVE the Albanian!!) and the Potato Dumplings, which were ... read more
Avoid This Restaurant - It is horrible – It was my wifes birthday and I wanted to surprise her and take her to a new restaurant for a new experience. At first, I thought this would be a great experience because the building (inside and out) is very charming and the perfect place for a romantic dinner. We waited about 10 minutes and the server came to our table and asked if we were ready to order. We ordered a glass of wine, glass of beer, bread and potato dumplings and our main course. After another 10 minutes the server bro... read more
Best borscht & desserts – I was raised on traditional Polish food and I found this restaurant serving food that is the closest to what I ate in "Poletown" Detroit, Michigan. I had the Mushroom Crepes, my husband had the Cordon Bleu. Our guests sampled the salads and had the goulash. We loved the ambience with the accordian player and her beautiful voice. The service was very nice. We will go there often.
