Established in July 2004, our desire was to create a contemporary-yet-authentic Indian restaurant. Our intent was to have you enter Essence of India and encounter a comfortable, casual feeling that was welcoming and sophisticated, all at the same time. Great service, and incredibly fast. Everything was amazing- food, wine, level of spice!
We loved having an Indian restaurant right around the corner from our house. We really enjoy the food here. The service is great. The menu is your pretty standard Indian fare. Be aware that due to the Old Town School of Music a block away this place can get pretty busy.

Excellent Indian food. The staff is also very nice. Great for a date or a small group of friends. Highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Biryani. From the bar, the vodka Elephant Ride is amazing.
A very nice place, clean and the food is good. Might be hot spicy so you must tell them how you want it.
