Food was great, drinks were strong (no skimping on the good stuff), atmosphere is great, waitstaff was nice, but if you are there during peak times expect to have a long wait (well worth the wait though!). Chicken fried ribeye was melt in your mouth good!
Service is horrible. I've been here at least 5 times but stop in around 5 pm and sat in one of the booths by the bar. We wait over 20 minutes not one server acknowledged us or made any effort to grab our order. I've had ok service before not sure I will be going back anytime soon. Go somewhere else. Many friendly places on the riverwalk who want your business.

Unfortunately, that bar area tends to get extremely congested, and sometimes, our servers have a difficult time actually seeing that a guest has been seated through the visual din, especially if our Host did not seat them (and subsequently notify the server responsible for that section). I was looking for a casual "pub type" place and struck gold when we found The Esquire. Great old saloon ambience with excellent food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. I highly recommend it if that's the mood you're in.
My girlfriend and I had an awesome time at The Esquire Tavern. We had four or five cocktails and the bison burger. The cocktails were great and the bison burger was amazing. We decided to leave and walk around the River Walk but ended back at the Esquire for round 2. I would highly recommend it to my friends.
