My fiancé and I came here last night before walking over to the Aztec for a concert. The food was good but it was definitely overpriced! The menu isn't very descriptive so when we ordered the fried mac and cheese, we didn't realize it had jalapeños and had to send it back. Luckily, the waiter took it off our bill since the it wasn't stated on the menu that jalapeños were in the macaroni. Also, I ordered a Crown and Coke and never got it. The artichoke dip was a bit salty and our waitress was just not interested in being there but the bartenders were all very attentive and knowledgeable. I will visit on my next trip.

Everything I've had has been great. Big Red empanada is legit.
My husband & I enjoyed the Esquire Tavern twice during our weekend stay in San Antonio. 1st visit was during lunch, the burgers and beer were great!! We enjoyed our visit so much we decided to come back the following night for dessert. The fried apple pie was AMAZING!! This visit was more of a romantic setting, dim lighting with candlelight. The restaurant was busy and the service was very slow. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here and we plan to return on our next trip!
