Fast pleasant service, cool building and great bar
Basically stumbled into the place. Mellow but classic vibe, attentive, friendly service. Great (strong) cocktails. Decor on point--gorgeous flocked damask wallpaper, tin ceiling, dark wooden booths, Edison lights, and a few choice bits of taxidermy. The trio that was playing (apparently they are the regular tues night band) was fantastic--upright bass/singer, nylon-string guitar, electric (tele) guitar--played like it was a pedal steel. Perfect stop for a post-prandial nightcap.
Poor customer service. Employees very rude. Will not return.
Enjoyed an evening at the Esquire Tavern this weekend and was very pleased. The craft cocktails are both interesting and boozy. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the Frito Pie (a slightly more grown up version than you might remember--think brisket rather than ground beef) and short rib empanada were. Our server made good suggestions and was En Pointe 😉 with the overall service. We went fairly early, so the place wasn't crowded. Just wish it hadn't been so hot so we could have sat on the patio. I met up with some friends last night. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The deviled eggs were to die for. Loved the downstairs atmosphere.
