My experience with Dr. Engle so far has been fine, however, I can’t say the same for the staff at Southwoods. I have been transferred so many times from one person to another that at this point I can’t even tell you if I have an appointment or what time it is. I would never recommend Southwoods to anyone for a procedure. I am sorry I didn’t do more research and go to Mercy Health.
I have found Dr. Engle to be very caring and compassionate. He goes into great detail with what is wrong with what is most likely causing your pain and his proposed remidial procedures. Forget those bad reviews. Any patient can have a bad experience with any doctor, especially when the cure doesn't work. He once told me the cause of pain in my shoulder but recommended another doctor with more experience in doing the procedure. In my experience with different pain doctors, Dr. Engle is the best in the Youngstown area.
I wish I could leave zero stars. Dr. Engle's office requested an approval for my 1st epidural injection. My insurance approved not just the 1st, but also a 2nd injection. That was missed by Dr. Engle's staff. Instead they told me they would have to put through a 2nd request to get a 2nd injection. Upon calling my insurance I learned that they NEVER put through the 2nd request and the 1st approval for a 2nd injection had just expired. What a bunch of incompetence!!!!
I asked for an MRI after having 2 failed injections given based on symptoms for my lower back pain. Even after reviewing my MRI, he proceeded to inject me in another area than where my l4/l5 herniation was. I got NO relief other than from the anesthetic used in the procedure. When I REFUSED to say I got relief, he INSISTED that I DID and told me to stop playing doctor. He told me if I didn't come back It wouldn't affect his big practice. The most unprofessional doctor I have ever dealt with.
Business response:
It is unfortunate that you did not get relief from your disc herniations through non-operative means. Not all patients experience relief/healing from injections/therapy for disc herniations. When injections fail, often surgery is needed. I apologize if that message did not come across professionally.
