Predatory billing practices and corporate billing abuse. This group (a shell for TEAMHealth) bypassed our commercial insurance network (Anthem) and directly balance-billed us $1,341.00 for a minor toddler toe injury at Overlook Medical Center (an in-network facility). They engaged in egregious Upcoding by billing this standard low-acuity visit under CPT code 99284 (Level 4 High-Severity Emergency), despite the patient being left in the waiting room for 3 hours with zero clinical urgency. Keep all records of payments made. Was forced to settle twice for the same bill 4 years later because I did not have proof I already settled the account in 2020. In the end I wound up overpaying because I had no proof I paid. KEEP RECEIPTS OF PAYMENTS. JUST AWFUL!!!
