They rely on “tests” instead of listening to how you’re feeling and just send you home without figuring out why you’re sick, even when the tests actually do show slight results of something wrong, they want it to be literally killing you already to do anything. While there was definitely a long wait to be taken back (3 hours), the staff were very kind throughout and apologized profusely. We received quality care and it felt like everyone wanted us to not only get well but have a happy time doing it.
I believe all emergency rooms in Pittsburgh are the same. I’ve been to multiple with stomach related issues. I’ve been in the ER here at Magee for 7 hours now. Once every hour I get a nurse visiting my room with an update that I will be getting an update about my results soon. SEVEN hours so far and not offered any water, food, and only given Motrin once for pain hours ago. They weren’t busy when I arrived and they do not sound busy outside my door. Puddles of wet bleach. Blood and other mystery liquids all over the walls. Crusted pieces of pus or mucus all over my pillow. I have a genetic disease and was in severe pain. Wanted to crack the door because the smell was making me sicker. They told me I wasn’t allowed. I walked out. Find somewhere else.
