About this business

Committed to excellence the Elf Cafe uses the purest and cleanest ingredients available. Sourced from local farmers and artisan cheese makers, this organic restaurant firmly believes in preparing and cooking clean dishes down to the reverse osmosis water they use. Just realized I haven't been to Elf Cafe in about a year, which is a shame, because it may be the best vegetarian food I've every eaten (and after 10+ years being veggie I've had a lot). The staff are very friendly and the service is great - they have often brought us little extras from the kitchen just because... The reason it's not 5 stars is that the place is way too small, which means a long wait for a table and, if it's full, sometimes a long wait for food. So, don't show up hungry. You will be by the time you get anyth... read more

Haven't eaten here in a while, but last time I did, it was awesome. And the time before that and the time before that. Great middle-eastern-y vegan/vegetarian food. Wonderful mac & cheese to reward the undeserving & unadventurous. (Tip: Do not come for the elbow room.)

Best restaurant (veggie or otherwise) on the east side – I can't say enough about Elf! How is it possible that a restaurant makes me feel sensual? When you walk in you instantly feel welcome, warm and cozy. Then there's the beautiful, sweet, super attentive staff... then comes the food. There is nothing on the menu that doesn't blast your taste buds away. I must admit that I always leave feeling a little horny.

Poor customer service, bad attitude – This local restaurant does have good food but the atmosphere is very pretentious and trendy, IMO. They are also very over priced for serving kale dripping in clarified butter and garlic. The owner is also very rude. They tell everyone the wait time for a table is 20 minutes then give you a spiel about how "it's not a science determining how long it takes people to eat their food," making you wait an additional 20+ minutes. If you want to look last year's cool, this is the restaurant to b... read more

(Generic) Indie Rockers Eat Your Heart Out Lovah and I have been to Elf Cafe twice, which says a lot because we don't usually go to the same restaurant twice. Elf Cafe's hook is that their Lebanese-Mediterranean/Greek, etc. meals are made with organic ingredients. But their real hook should be their waitresses who are the hipster versions of the Stepford wives. Can someone please write a second review to verify this fact? Seriously, they're all tall, dark-haired beauties who have broken, I'm sure, a few generic indie rockers... read more

Loved it!!! – I went to Elf on a whim, after several unsuccessful attempts. The food was great! I had some kind of feta pastry that was perfect and some limeaid, a little too sweet, but good all the same. The atmosphere was really European. It reminded me of a great hidden vegetarian restaurant in Nice, France called Zucca Magica. Really incredible. It's a little higher priced than the average Echo Park eatery, but worth it for a special occasion The corkage fee is unfortunate. I've worked as a server in fine dinning places ... read more

Amazing in every way! – The atmosphere and staff are amazing. The chef is a culinary genius. I'm not a vegetarian and thought that this would be a bland spot for dinner upon suggestion from a friend. Wow, was I wrong! I can't wait to go back.
