El Sombrero is a Juneau food tradition. Fresh salsa, fresh chips, and a family-run business with so much heart it makes you feel welcome and cared for from the moment you are seated. If you need a little pick-me-up or some comfort Mexican food, go to El Sombrero and say 'hi' to Fritz and the family for me!
I was looking for Mexican food. I found this one online and it was a few blocks from my hotel. The food was really great. I had the carne asada. I grew up in south Texas and had travelled all over Mexico. This was a blessing. The menu serves those who seek good authentuc mexican food, as well as the cruise ship tourist who may want a hamburger. The staff were friendly and attentive. REALLY ENJOYED IT! The only drawback, is that it is beer and wine place; no Don Julio margaritas. Had a nice selection of mexican beers.
Every time I visit Juneau since moving away at least one meal at El Sombrero is mandatory. Delicious and the best flan I've ever had.
As a Mexican Mexican i felt like home. The guys are awesome. Real service. i will come back, for sure.

I love Mexican food and especially hamburgers and their Gringo food.
The service is amazing. It's real Southern California Mexican not this new wave or Tex Mex . Just good Mexican food when you're craving it, they have it! The "flan"Is my favorite dessert in town!
