Changes for the bad – Was an avid fan 30 years ago. Went back to taste my favorite dish the botana. Much, much, much smaller portion and has radically changed. The food order came quickly but was missing an idea. The waitress only came back to clear the table and drop off the check - so I told her to delete the missing idea and which she disappeared again. Finally came back to give us the check and said she would take it so I said here is the payment and she disappeared again. Memories were great but will never go back again... read more
Good service. – It behooves me how someone visiting from Southern California would actually seek out a Mexican Restaurant in Detroit and expect great things! I grew up in Detroit. In the early 70?s, my girlfriend and I went to El Nibble Nook on Grand River a couple times. Having not experienced Mexican food at a nice sit down restaurant before, we thought the food was wonderful! The servers were dressed in cute black outfits trying desperately to pass as senoritas even though most of them were Italian. The flavors of cumin, ... read more
Great service, strong drinks, good food – We were greeted with a warm smile by the hostess and seated immediately. The waitress (Michelle) was very friendly and brought out chips and (mild) salsa immediately. I had a margarita, which arrived in a too small glass but was actually quite strong. The food was served promptly (my california had loads of cheese and shredded meat, my friend's tacos looked excellent) and the waitress checked back with us for refills an appropriate number of times. Not too often and not ignored. Just... read more
bland and tasteless, service decent – This used to be a great restaurant long long ago. It must be surviving on it's reputation alone. Now, the food is so boring it will put you to sleep. I am still searching Metro-Detroit for a decent Mexican Restaurant.
el nibble nook – this restaraunt has the best food like chalupa with shredded beef rice flautas and awsome servicethey charge nothing for special orders and the spinach burito is awsome
Avoid eating there on any day that end in 'y'. – This was probably the worst "Mexican food" I have ever eaten. We are from So. Cal and have eaten at many, many Mexican food restaurants, this was by far the most bland, tasteless food ever. I had the Beef (ground, are you kidding me?!) Tostada with beans and rice. There was absolutely no taste at all. My fiance had the "Steak Fajitas" that were to be medium and they were almost raw. The flavor was not Mexican at all. It is pretty hard to make these wrong, even TGiF does it bet... read more
Not bad. – I have eaten at el nibble nook at least 15 times. I have tried about 10 different things from the restaurant. All I can say is that everything is average. The service is very good, and there are lots of choices on the menu. Yet, in all my efforts I have not been able to find anyhitng on the menu that I really love. Nothing is bad, but I cannot finish my meal and think to myself man that was great, I want to come here again next week. The rice and beans served with the meals seem like they are out of a can. There a... read more
Top-notch margaritas and generous portions have kept this nook a regular stop. – In Short This Livonia mainstay has fed generations of families for years. Its hacienda-like interior has warm lighting and well-worn tables. El Nibble Nook specializes in Mexican, but it also serves classic American fare, including steaks. Popular dishes include the black bean soup, seafood burritos, tostadas and beef enchiladas. A perfect accompaniment is the margarita, a mix of salty and sweet that works with any meal.
NibbleRaves – The best Mexican food for miles and miles; even their sister restaurant on Hagerty Road and Pontiac Trail is not as good as the original. Best food, best Sangria wine, best service.
El Nibble Nook has a 4.1 star rating with 1,378 reviews.
El Nibble Nook is closed now. It will open on Monday at 9:00 a.m.
