About this business

Years ago we opened our doors to you. The idea was to serve the most traditional Mexican food around. Our recipes come from family and original traditional ones. Our Tequila collection and Margaritas are some of our specialties. The Tequila collection consists of over 750 different tequilas. The Margaritas, well, if you've had one, you know they are the best in town! We use only freshly squeezed limes and Triple Sec, no mixes, and with a variety of tequilas to choose from, you can't miss! This is a family owned and operated ... read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food Yeah, it's thick with tourists, right next to some train tracks, and a bit on the pricey side. But El Callejon is a winner -- just because they nail the food. It's simple hand-prepared Mexican food that uses fresh ingredients. Even the salsa is fresh-cut. They don't skimp on beans, lard, or cheese to make it "fusion". The wait staff was pretty damned good too. My family, in from Colorado, and starved for real Mexican food, had a great time there.

Exciting Mexiavn Cuisine This restaurant has excellent cerviche, more varieties of Tequila than i have ever seen, authentic Mariaches serenading you and an outdoor patio. Awesome location for a marguerita at happy hour.

Boring food, high prices. The food was way overpriced for the quality and quantity served. Everything was very bland and flavorless, and it was NOT cheap. Mexican food is supposed to be full of spice and flavor, and everything brought to the table was quite unsavory. I've been to Taco Bell and had better food than what they are serving at El Callejon.

You can't find a better Margarita anywhere The food at this place is great, but their Margaritas can't be beat. We always get the traditional--the limes are squeezed fresh all day and you can taste it. The atmosphere is nice too--relaxed courtyard setting, casual but nice.

Yummy Very authentic. I love the location and we walked off our lunch there on the beach. My mom had the chicken enchiladas, which I wish I ordered because they looked delicious! I got the carne asada and it was also delicious! Great tastes at a great price!

The manager Jean Jourdain made me feel like a low class citizen when I brought in a gift card from a contest. Found out it had nothing on it before ordering. I was embarrassed & shocked, especially because I won it in a prize package and the others worked. I asked our server to run the card again & give me a receipt showing a zero balance so I can inform the people that issued it. Jean returned with an irritated attitude & told me again. I asked him for a receipt & he said he couldn't give me one. No empathy, the server in t... read more

Best Margs & Mexican Food in California – Wow! I walked into the place and was amazed by the hundreds of tequilas lining the walls. The people looked cool and we we got our first margarita... OMG! So fantastic we had to ask... why are the margs so great? The guy said they are made from fresh squeezed limes... no mix. We were there for happy hour which is 3:00 - 6:00 seven days a week. We were in awe. All the food smelled so good we may have over ordered but we couldn't resist and finished it all. We tried the pastor tacos, r... read more
