Every year I make the trip from Annapolis, MD to shop the arboretum's native plant sale. As a certified Master Gardener, I understand the value of native plants. This event has the best collection of native plants I have seen. It is worth it to me to drive down to Harrisonburg, spend night in hotel and shop next day at arboretum. This year I'm bringing friends.
The arborium is my favorite spot in Harrisonburg to take a picnic lunch to enjoy by the pond, take a stroll, or just to sit a while on a bench, and enjoy the quiet beauty. So grateful to Dr. Norlyn Bodkin for his vision and much work, and the help of many others, to make this delightful place a dream come true....
During my recuperating after breast cancer the arboretum helped to calm and comfort our family With short escapes for a tranquil walk I gained back my serenity and strength. Thank you for a wonderful healing garden retreat.
