USED to love the place – Up until about a year ago I used to eat at Edendale about once a month, if not more. I liked the people, the food, and the atmosphere. Then one night I was having dinner with friends and our poor waitress was running herself ragged trying to serve several tables by herself...including one large party. Awful food and service – The worst brunch I've had in Los Angeles. 5 of went for bruncj. After getting our menus, we ordered drinks. Twenty min. for drinks to arrive. The "Champagne" is Frexenet. When the food finally arrived, first two plates came, then after serveral minutes, two more plates came. After a bit the manager noticed that I still had no plate and he brought mine. Great patio, okay food – I live nearby, and actually go here a lot...but it's mostly for how close it is and the ambiance of the patio, not the food. The food is pretty much average, I'd say, and it would be nice if they expanded their menu a bit. On certain nights I've had issues with service (absent) as well, but other nights it's been great. Still, it's a beautiful place....just wish the food impressed me as much as the surroundings.
Bad service – We had dinner on Saturday for my friend's birthday. She is a Silver Lake resident and a patron of the restaurant for many years and chose your place for her birthday. Our waiter was unavailable from the beginning and unaccommadating to our simple requests such as more water. Our food took longer to be served than our surrounding tables. Terrible Mother's Day – Ate dinner here twice and it wasn't bad, but the special brunch deals are a blatant rip-off. We took my mother here on Mother's Day - prix fixe at $30 per person for four of us. No drink included, not even coffee. Muffins to start, then a choice of five dishes (we all had the eggs florentine - terrible). Twenty minutes after we finished eating the waiter brought us a plate of chocolate strawberries, two per person. With coffee, tax and a 10% tip - because the service was so bad - this cost $160. Used to be better! – My wife and I used to live around the corner from this bar and it was our FAVORITE place to take friends for a drink, order appetizers, and people-watch. We moved up north a year ago and recently returned...what a difference! There was no music, the bar was practically empty, and our group was very uncomfortable sitting at the bar--we were stared at the whole time by a loud group of diners in the other room! VERY beautiful space, wonderful food! – I see that many of the reviews here go back as far as 2002 ... definitely discard them immediately. As of March 2007, I had one of my favorite dining experiences ever at Edendale Grill. The restaurant and bar are in a vintage brick firehouse, and the interior is beautifully decorated: classy, tasteful, with touches of Craftsman era design. DISAPPOINTED......... – My girlfriend and I have wanted to go try out this restaurant since we grew up in the area and try to support newer establishments. We spontaneously decided to go for brunch and were disappointed with the service. We were not checked on at all! After we ordered we never saw our waiter till after we had finished our meals and our plates had been taken away. I actually wanted to order something else and have another drink but we were just left there to sit with our empty table.
Top choice in Silverlake for great food and cocktails, beautiful patio, and friendly service – Edendale Grill is one of Silverlake's best restaurants. The menu is straighforward and all items are delicious. I recommend the truely tasty tableside ceasar salad (for 2) and the strip steak. Edendale is also a perfect place for a cocktail and a snack.
