If you sew, you must stop here. I'm not a quilter but I love this place. The fabric selection is fantastic. I drool over their Asian prints and batiks. They have a good selection but it's very cotton heavy which is fine for me most of the time. I also bought my last sewing machine here (a Janome - a fabulous machine!). I got lots of help with the selection and after I bought it the salesperson asked if I wanted to open it up and learn to thread it and everything on the spot. I was sewing away like a pro as soon as I got home... read more
I am a loyal Eddie's customer! Eddie worked on my sewing machine and returned it to me better than new! I'm so thankful for his expertise. Thanks, Eddie! I feel it is well worth the drive from Newark! His staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate you all! See you next time I need fabric!
Has a good selection of interesting cotton fabric and nice quality fabric. Also a large notions selection. Relieved I don't have to go to another place anymore, that place is awful.
MACHINE SHOPPING! I shopped for WEEKS for a new machine. I went to three other local shops and was given high prices and high reviews on machines that (I looked on-line when I got home) were kind of crappy and had TERRIBLE user reviews. I was prepared to spend as little as possible and get a lot for it :) I finally called Eddie, and he was immediately helpful, positive and really honest about quality and price. He compared the machines to cars (and I felt like I WAS shopping for a car!): I could spend all my money on a "basi... read more
I took a couple of sewing classes here creating bags and it was a lot of fun. I learned how to strip quilt a bag and machine applique a cute cat. I am an experienced sewer but not a quilter. I thought the bag classes did require a lot of work on your own so it's not for really newbies. Newbies should definitely take the intro to sewing classes first. The instructors were nice and helpful, but they were busy helping others. Eventually if you wait your turn, they'll come to help you. My bags got lots of oohs and aahs and I'm p... read more
I am not a quilter, only an amateur seamstress Eddie is knowledgeable and provides fantastic service. You cannot put a price on the service he provides as far as machines go. Prices for fabrics and thread (non-quilting stuff) may not meet the lower prices of corporate places but Eddie makes up for that 10 fold for the free lessons and repairs on the machines. Don't be fooled by the tiny storefront - the inside is HUGE (it's narrow but very long).
They are the only ones in the south bay that has a lot of the tread I like. So I go there maybe every other month when I am close to running out of thread. A lot of the time I go after work so it's around 6-7 pm, which I really like, sometimes I go during the weekend. So have been there quite a few times over the past year or so. So I really don't go there enough for them to think I'm a regular but I do go enough to get a real feel for the place.
Have been dealing with this shop for about 10 years. Formerly they were on Castro Street in Mountain View but moved to a much larger facility in Sunnyvale. Tons of fabric with new stuff coming in all the time. The sewing machine department has about 50 machines and sergers from Husgvarna, Bernina and Babylock. Eddie's provides classes and service for three years after purchase. And advice and answers for many years after that. They have a service department on site and factory trained techs to work on your machine. An elevat... read more
I heart Eddie's. This store has an amazing selection of quilting supplies, knowledgeable, friendly staff, and Eddie himself has repaired and replaced parts on my sewing machine. Fabulous customer service. It's not exactly a convenient location for me, but I'm willing to drive the hour to peruse their fun fabric selection and chat with the staff about projects I'm working on. They even carry Koala sewing cabinets, and they offer free classes with the purchase of new sewing machines. Speaking of classes, I haven't taken any be... read more
