Wouldn't say it was a highlight, let's just say our boat motor was having a bad day. This was our first time to Ed Allen's. Definitely not what we wanted for the day. We finally made it back to the boat ramp to be greeted by R.C.. Told him of our day and he jumped right in to trying to solve our problem of the boat motor. For only meeting R.C for the first time, I knew this man was a class act!!! Thank you for all your help R.C., we'll definitely be back!!

I do like going here. But the needs to be a lot of work on the fishing pier
I love this launch. I had a boat issue while launching one time, they helped me diagnose and fix quickly which was greatly appreciated. Ed is a great guy. The shop inside has a surprisingly good bait selection, beverages ect. The restaurant next door makes a mean burger. They also offer boat rentals. In my younger days, I would have taken advantage of this often. The lake gets its share of fishing pressure but it’s loaded with big fish.
As a kayak angler I love coming to Ed Allen’s Bait shop before launching at Chickahominy. I have to go there to pay for my launch fee, but I love talking to Ed who is always knowledgeable. This shop is always in tune with bass culture and events, and houses top of the line lures. You’ll even see the board of folks who have caught big bass there. Beautiful lake, great fishing and a one of a kind experience meeting and talking to Mr ALLEN.
had a awesome day on the water. boat we rented was in great shape lot's of open space for hogs to hide in
