I have been a student at Eastern Ways Martial Arts for about a year now, and having studied martial arts before I can honestly say that the instruction at Eastern Ways is top notch! There is no better place to learn traditional chinese martial arts than the Eastern Ways Martial Arts School in Elk Grove. Dont fall for the new age "watered down" tai chi and kung fu from people who arent qualified to teach it. My son has been a student at Easten Ways for the past 2 years and enjoys it thoroughly. Eastern ways is a great school and my sons instructor Mr. Jones is just wonderful. Mr. Jones is great with the kids. My son is learning to have confidence in himself and is having a good time.

Eastern Ways Martial Arts School in Fair Oaks is a very professional school. I am personally taught by Mr. Jones. All of the instructors helpful and kind. The instruction is delivered in an easy to learn format of private and group classes. The school is well decorated and spotlessly clean. The school offers Tai Chi also and beautiful and very Lion Dancing. If considering Kung Fu or Tai Chi, this is the place...you found it. See you on the mat. Carol Gurel, student at Fair Oaks studio.
Eastern Ways Lion Dancers are the students from the studios. In order to participate, the students are required to pay for the Lion Dance instruction, and then donate their time and gas to attend public events and perform, while the studio gets paid, sometimes huge bucks, for the event. The students are given water and gatoraide, even if the event lasts all day, but not compensation - not even for gas. Business practices are designed for maximum owner profit.
The Fair Oaks studio leaves a lot to be desired. The head instructor hits students when angry, deliberately knocks them down, and deliberately hurts the them when "demonstrating" techniques. In the last year, students have been leaving and going to other studios. In addition, Hubbard treats his instructors so poorly that in the last 6 months, 3 instructors have "disappeared". Hubbard requires them to work for free, and when they dont want to he "fires" them and then does a hatch job on their reputations. :-(
