Frankly, I do not see why a college would want to limit the size of an audience attending graduation, especially when the venue holds a larger amount of people than the amount of tickets being given out. Do they not understand the PR value of an event like graduation? I do not see why a college would want to deny a parent a chance to see their child graduate. If a parent pays tuition, a ticket to graduation should surely come with that final payment, should it not? Looks bad on YOU Dutchess Community College! # DCCgiveAdrienn... read more
Every single parent should be given an opportunity to attend graduation. Handing out 4 tickets to the student in no way allows for some parents to attend if the parents are living separately. Unless there is a legal action against a parent there is absolutely no reason that each parent isn't given tickets. Do not assume the graduate will give each parent a ticket. Please give Adrienne Combes Cashdollar a ticket to attend her daughters graduation.
I am saddened to hear that a college cannot give a mother of a graduate a ticket to her daughters graduation ceremony. Dr Edington, being a woman and maybe a mother, would you be disheartened of not seeing your child in your child's proudest moment? I know the importance to this mmm, as I travelled 2,000 miles to see my daughter graduate from the University of Notre Dame. I was not denied a ticket, nor the five people that were with me. Exceptions can be made.
Why would a college deny a mother a ticket to see her daughter graduate? They sure took the mother's money!! Sad, very sad!! Edited: DCC gave this mother a ticket. It's sad that they had to be shamed into doing it, but they did. Thank you!
Saddened too to learn that every parent of a graduate can not attend the ceremony because the venue chosen for graduation can not hold enough people. This needs to be fixed....the school should ensure that both parents can attend as both of these parents have assisted the student in completing this goal. It's not the student's fault that they have a manipulative and emotionally abusive father -- even at this age, the student can't defy the father and give a ticket to her mother because she has been emotionally abused.
