For well over a century, Durgin-Park has catered to the hearty appetites of straw-hatted, white-aproned market men and local characters. Today it hosts visiting celebrities, business men and women, students, and tourists from every part of the globe. While the origin of Durgin-Park goes back to Revolutionary days, the era of fame for its chowders, Indian puddings, apple pan dowdy, johnny cake, and New England boiled dinners started some 130 years ago when John Durgin, in partnership with Eldridge Park, a livery man, and John... read more

Great New England Food!! – We heard so much about Durgin Park we just had to go. I had the best Yankee Pot Roast(excluding my own,of course) I ever had. A true Patriots meal! We didn't wait long at all to be seated and the staff was very nice. The ambience was simple and clean. We were waited on right away with a cube of their famous cornbread in hand. Our food came quick and hot. The pot roast was tender and the baked beans were the best of Boston. I had Indian Pudding for the first time, yummy. Like I said Great New Englan... read more
So I tried fish. – I havent eaten fish in something like ten years, mostly because fresh fish in Chicago is hard to come by at a decent price. I stopped at Durgin Park with my wife and two year old and it was very comfortable. I didnt order fish since Im not used to doing so, but I did try my wifes haddock which was really good and I would probably order it if Im ever in Boston again. I dont know if this is a tourist trap or not since I was a tourist in Boston, I just know I was satisfied with everything.
Two words: TOURIST TRAP – Mediocre, tasteless food, obnoxious atmosphere, service ranging from so-so to lousy. What less could you ask for?
Historical Boston at its best – For a real taste of old boston mingle with the locals and the tourists at this fanueil hall restaurant. waits can be long but stay. seating is communal and waitresses have that sass-a fun place for kids. food is traditional new england-the yankee pot roast is great-so are the many side dishes. indian pudding is a nice change. a must-dine in boston!
Happily Surprised – Upon arriving in Boston, my girlfriend and I decided to head for Fanieul Hall for lunch and sightseeing. We asked a Bostonian for a recommendation and was told that Durgin Park was very popular with most visitors. We headed over famished and weary and were not disappointed. We were promptly seated, waited upon by a very nice college student, and enjoyed a great meal. Coming from NYC, the prices were very reasonable. Try the fish chowder and roast beef.
Insider trading... – I used to work at Durgin Park... and let me tell you, WHAT A CHORE! Waitressing at it's finest! Up and down flights of stairs, making sure your witty repartie wasn't too witty or crass... but most of all, making sure your guests are getting the food they heard all about from every one they have ever known who has been to Boston. I can honestly tell you that the food at Durgin is made fresh! Management may act kindly to their staff, but they KNOW what needs to be on their tables. If it isn't above par, th... read more
