Located on historic Route 66, Duran Central Pharmacy offers a small selection of some of the best New Mexican fare to be found in Albuquerque. This is a lively place that is always busy around lunch time. With a classic soda fountain atmosphere, this joint has you work your way through the aisles of the drug store to get to the dining area. The menu remains small as everything is prepared fresh, daily. The specialty of the house is a bowl of Green Chile Stew, which is served with a homemade flour tortilla on the side.

Duran Central Pharmacy has the best New Mexican food in town, and the coolest pharmacy/store in New Mexico. Now that they are open later, I'm going to need to buy a lot of anti acids, a skinnier wallet, and some unique/retro candy for the road, which they conveniently sell in the pharmacy. Note I do not have any family relationship to the shop. However, my grandpa & grandma Casaus use to provide the red chile to the restaurant back in the 1970's, when we grew it in Old Town Albuquerque.
Great service and the best chicken chili in a tiny and unique environment.
Love the tortillas here! Food is really good. My fiancé and I visit from Orlando every year and we always have to come here. Very friendly environment. My only pushback is that the service is so good that it looks like it can be challenging at times to balance the customers. We ask for a to go box but ended up having to ask someone else because our waitress wa so engaged with her other customers.
