I'm really posting this review for all the people who are upset or not happy with Dr Fowler. I had a fusion with protein sponge bc I'm a smoker. L4 L5 S1 2007 I was very nervous being my first major surgery but he was very nice, polite and caring. Staff was great and yes I had to wait about 45 min in waiting area before being called back on 2 different occasions but I always have a wait with any doctor. Anyway, he made me comfortable enough and things were very well explained, no problems with him at all. Time for surgery an... read more

I paid $50 copay for him to yell at me for 20 minutes because I asked about options to try before an intrusive back surgery (complete removal of L4 and implantation of a cage of cadaver bone). Never will I see this man again! Horribly unprofessional!

Waited for over 2 hours in the waiting room then approximately another 45 minutes in a little room, during which time was not updated as to why it was taking so long. There also was confusion as to why I had been referred to him. I was referred about my neck and He was talking about my low back. So I was totally unprepared to ask questions about low back surgery which he said that I need. So I left more confused and with more questions than when I arrived. But then how much could I adjust to the twist in 10 minutes before he... read more

I had to have a four level cervical fusion (ACDF). Dr. Fowler explained the situation and procedure thoroughly and proceeded with a 10 hour surgery with excellent results. I'm thankful to have found this neurosurgeon.

This past week Dr. Fowler and his did a 5hr surgery to remove an intradural tumor. He, his team, and surgical team at Mission Hospital did an outstanding job of discussing the the procedure, the risks, the follow up and the prognosis. Dr. Fowler did an excellent job surgically, and handled a complication with outstanding professionalism (called in another Neurosurgeon for a second opinion then called my wife, explained the situation, agreement on the action).

This Dr. and the team at Mission Hospital in Asheville NC saved my life two years ago. He conducted surgery for a ruptured aneurysm. I am blessed to have had his services that day.

5 weeks for an appointment, 2 hours wait time for at least 3 out of 6 visits. Confusing discussion over how to proceed. An abrupt cancellation of an appointment following my 3rd MRI which was to determine whether to have surgery. I was advised to have surgery several times by his assistant and would expect to schedule a time with him to proceed time after time. Imagine my frustration when I last saw him and spent my time being scolded for missing an appointment which I did not miss. I canceled.
