I am Mary Akel, a patient of Dr Basava. I have an upcoming appointment on Friday, I need to reschedule. Dr Basava, when I call your office to speak to someone in your office, all I get is an automated recording, over and over again. No one called me back Dr B.. this is discouraging and unacceptable on my part. My pain gets worse & worse and I need to talk to u and update u but unable to. My next appointment this Friday, a day from tomorrow, July 20th 2017, needs to be rescheduled. M Ake

Great doctor with a good bedside manner. She did my my kyphoplasty and all went well. I overheard some of the staff at my procedure commenting that she is one of the best doctors in Houston when it comes to interventional pain procedures. She even called me the next day to make sure all was well. It is nice to come across doctors like Dr. Basava who genuinely care for their patients.
I have been going to Dr. Basava for a couple of years for care. She was highly recommended by my neurosurgeon. She is an excellent doctor who actually takes the time to listen and always does a very detailed exam before making a plan of care. I had several procedures with other pain doctors but so far had the best results when Dr. Basava did them.
Did not spend enough time with me. Repeated procedures that never worked.
This "Dr." is more interested in repeating the same procedure over and over again, with no success, rather than actually helping solve what is causing pain. After trying to discuss my concerns about this course of action, she abruptly told me she believed me to be addicted to the pain medication she had previously prescribed and told me I was no longer welcome as a patient. She referred me to a methodone clinic (!!!). New Dr. diagnosed me, did procedure, and within 3 months I'm off all meds.
We have seen Dr. Basava several times and the office visit and the Out Pt. Surgery has been great. Would tell you to go and see her . She calls to see how you are doing after the Out Pt. Surgery the next day .. Great Dr.
Made an appointment on 10/20 @ 1:40pm. Receptionist told me that I did not have appt. and could not see her that day. I had to re-schedule many other activities that day. I got to the office early. I was treated without respect, and the receptionist did not try to find out about the scheduling problem. She could have tried to "work" me in that day. This makes me question Dr. Basava's capabilities.
