I really like Dr. Nguyen. He’s a serious dude, Straight to the point, a little dry but he’s also a super genius... sooooo.. I read a few reviews complaining about his personality and giving him poor reviews because of it. For those patients- I say, grow up. He’s a neurosurgeon. I saw him for a consult for 2 herniated discs. He explained my options. After thinking them over I opted for surgery. I’m 6 days post op and recovering well. Off pain meds. Surgery was a success.
Dr, Nguyen performed surgery when my 88-year old husband was found to have a large right temporal brain tumor... turned out to be gliosarcoma. Other doctors involved in his subsequent care, including the neuro-oncologist at UCI's Brain Cancer Institute commented on more than one occasion about the great job Dr. Nguyen did in removing so much tumor, that followup MRIs have not shown any residual tumor and no surgical trauma to the very fragile tissue surrounding the tumor site. FIVE STARS!!!!!
Dr. Tien Nguyen literally gave me my life back twice. In 2011 he surgical repaied my neck and in 2015 my lower spine. After both surgical fusions, I was able to function at a much high standard of living.
3 Stars on healthgrades is Good and 4 is very good so don’t be afraid of the 3 stars. I was afraid and the comments from others that said this Dr. is rude and mean. I found him to be stone-faced and serious which is what I would prefer in a brain and spine surgeon. My only complaint is that it took over a month to get an opening appointment and I waited over and hour beyond my appointment time. The staff was organized and nice.
Went to the doctor on a referral and it was not good news. He asked a bunch of questions in which most of the answers from the patient was no. However if he were to ask me the same questions most the answers would be yes. What does that mean? He was very frank and straight forward with the scenarios of both doing and not doing the surgery. He took his time with us and we appreciated that especially considering how delicate in nature brain surgery is. You can't say ok let's do this and then do it
He's a good doctor, I'll admit that. But his attitude and manners are terrible and horrible. Downright disrespectful.
He may be a good doctor, but he did not respect patients. The way his office works is terrible. He assigned me to see his assistant in my appointment without informing me, and without my allowance. I had to wait 2.5 hours for the first visit. For the second one, I waited for 1 hour, then no one let me know what happened. I asked and was told that I would be seen by Tien's assistant, not Tien, and they could not tell me how long more I would have to wait. I did not agree and gave up
He seems to be a good surgeon but his bedside manners are horrible. Downright mean sometimes.
Dr. Nguyen performed neck surgery on me and did a great job with post surgery care and treatment.
