Very poor bedside manner. Showed no compassion what so ever . Very rude and judge mental about pain. For someone who show know knowledge about complications or non responding complications after surgery. He didn't know squat. Gets very defensive if adverse or negative results develope after surgery and seems to think that one is trying to blame him instead of trying to figure out what the problem is. My husband and I went into see Dr. Ho, who was very competent and reassuring that he could help my husband who has been in pain for the last 7 to 8 years. hedr Hoekema did the back surgery successfully for my husband and my husband is finally pain-free . He walked around the hospital just hours after surgery. I think the world of Dr. Hoekema
Dr. Hoekema is a conscienscious and extremely skilled surgeon. He urges patient to pursue other options before sugery. Will not do surgery unless necessary. He replaced a hip for me, and I walked out of the hospital. Only used cane and pain meds for 3 days. Nurse was amazed at the fine, minimal scar line. He does not talk a lot, but don't be fooled. I would prefer a skilled physician to one who talks to appease me. I chose him because of many very high recommendations from other patients. I am 100% satisfied.
I had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Hoekema. He talked to me for 5 minutes before he decided that all I needed was some "exercise". I have had constant pain in my neck and back for a year and there is definitely something wrong, but because he doesn't think its surgical he blew me off. It was a total waste of time and money. I had to insist on getting an order for an MRI because he wanted to just throw me out the door. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY.
I was looking for a female primary so that I could get my gyno and general needs met with one doc. The first time I saw her, she performed the roughest pelvic exam I've ever had. She did not tell me what she was going to do before she did it and when I left I experienced pain and spotting. I gave her another chance. The second time, I did not experience pain and spotting and she was a bit more gentle, but just as non-communicative and lacking in bedside manner. This guy is a surgeon ONLY! As soon as he discovered that I was not a surgical patient I was surprised that I wasn't dropped thru a trap door in the floor. He has no interest in curing the ailment, just scoring surgical revenue.
There is no better pediatrician in Eugene. We have tried dozens over the years. She is the best!
she treating my saughter for multiple ear infcetions over a two year period of time and never referred us to an Ear Nose Throat for further help. My daugter ended up aith a 30% hearing loss drastically affecting her learning. Additonally, instead testing for and treating whooping cough, they preached to us about immunizations leaving my daughter with a sever case of whooping cough. also once detected she said it would probably be ok if she returned to school before she was even treated.
