Dr. Shopbell treated myself, my grandmother, and my mother at his private practice. His wife was friends with my mother, though apparently this was not a conflict of interest. He allowed my mother to continue a pattern of heavy sedation so she could continue to abuse me. He prescribed the highest adult dose of Eszopiclone in addition to Clonidine. Very good doctor but after being treated by him for 14 years he was no longer practicing from one day to the other. I was left without the promised ECT. And months and months of waiting to see a new dr. Sad.
After 19 ECTs Dr. Shopbell blew off my long term memory loss and racked it up to early dementia or bipolar. That's what he stated to the damage MRI showed. He is very smart and good with medications. I was an RN. Now I'm on disability. I can't even work at Burger King.
Brilliant doc. Actually listens to you and cares. A rare gem in this field for sure. Thank you for changing my life

Great Dr. But all practices are permanently closed. No warning nothing, got a call yesterday stating he is no longer in practice with aurora and other clinics permanently closed. How sad. He was one of the best.

I saw Dr. Shopbell for close to 15 years! For the first 14 years he was remarkably, but that last year was VERY HARD TO GET AHOLD OF HIM! I ended up at Mercy Medical instead of talking to him on where to go. I ended up with a so called psychiatric doctor that laughed at me when I told him how I was going to commit suicide. Not fun! Dr. Shopbell is wonderful but it can be very difficult to contact him. The office staff NEED a voicemail for patients to leave messages. It is not always possible to call during the hours they are in and the phone isn't always answered during their required times
