I began seeing Dr. Fung 2 years ago when I lost vision in my left eye. Since then I have had vision restored and had cataract surgery on both eyes. Today I have the best (uncorrected) vision I’ve experienced for the past 50 years. What can I say about Dr. Fung? He is a miracle worker to me. I have the ultimate confidence in him and UCSF.
I have been to many ophthalmologist including ophthalmologist at the Jules Stein Institute at UCLA due to my severe dryness of my eyes. I unfortunately had bad advice and was on steroid eye drops for many years causing early onset of cataracts in both eyes. I came to Dr. Fung in distress due to vision loss coupled with many doctors stating I needed cataract surgery but not wanting to do the surgery due to the severity of my eye dryness. I had PRK done with this doctor and I’m really glad I chose him. From the start, he was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything clearly, which made me feel a lot more comfortable going into the procedure. During the surgery itself, he was calm, reassuring, and walked me through what was happening, which honestly made a big difference. Dr. Fung is perhaps the best physician I’ve ever encountered— highly intelligent, thoroughly knowledgeable and kind, with excellent communication skills. I had 100% confidence in him through two surgeries and can recommend him without reservation.
Tremendously competent and flexible. Straight forward cataract surgery came out well. A piece of cake! A retinal issue in one eye required Dr. Fung coordinating schedule with second surgeon so both surgeries could be carried out in one OR session. Very communicative and informative.
