As someone that has been in the hands of many surgeons, and as someone that has a very complicated case, Dr.Woolf was the first surgeon to assess my injury and tell me there may be another doctor better suited for my case. I have had Doctor Woolf do surgery on a very complicated shoulder break and never had an pain afterwards
I went in to see Dr. Woolf for a hip impingement. He took the time to look over my chart and see that I had hip replacement. He thoroughly went through some of my options, but was not being persuasive at all. We talked about getting a cortisone shot with ultrasound. He was vey honest and told me he had a colleague that was more experienced in this procedure. He left the room to make some calls to his colleagues and see when they would be able to do it. I was so blessed that Dr. Shane Woolf was recommended to me for shoulder replacement surgery. Throughout the whole period of pre-op, surgery and post op , he has made me feel as though I was his only patient. The care I received at MUSC was outstanding and truly professional. At my first visit with Dr. Woolf he offered 4 options for treatment of my injured knee. He had reviewed my prior exrays, talked to the previous Physican, and discussed the pros and cons of each option. When the MRI results were in, Dr.Woolf reviewed and explained every picture. We came to a decision and he scheduled a surgery appointment as soon as possible. He is a knowledgeable professional with excellent patient skills. All appointments were on time and he never seemed rushed.
Love Dr Woolf! He's an excellent physician, reserved demeanor but friendly and kind. Spends a long time with patients until all questions are answered. He's completely professional, non-judgmental and never condescending. I trust his advice completely.

He can diagnose sometimes without MRI, because of his experience. Explains the injury and options for rehab in thoughtful manner. He reminds millennial residents of their manners when necessary.
