Do not go to this woman. I wish her no harm, but I really don't want anyone else to have this same experience. I got to the Dr. to receive care and stay healthy and this was the opposite. She was absolutely unprofessional, argumentative and condescending. She didn't agree with the treatment I was on for menopause and instead of providing me with alternatives which I asked for repeatedly, she accused me of podcast doctoring and got irate when I asked what her training was in menopause. I have had a lot of bad experiences with gynecologists where I have felt judged, unheard, and belittled, but my experience with Dr. M might have been the worst yet. She barely listened to my experience or concerns that had brought me to the appointment, and when she did ask questions she interrupted me without letting me answer. I felt very uncomfortable during the appointment and left feeling incredibly unsettled, judged, and defeated. Not up to date on how to deal with patients who have sexual trauma or other types of body trauma. Was told to “let it go, it’s in the past” - as if I hadn’t thought of that and my therapist is just there for show. Left feeling rather violated overall.
I have been a patient of Dr. Melkonian for 15 years. She goes overboard and checks everything that you didn't know you needed. Dr. Melkonian is a very warm and caring doctor and she has helped me on many occasions when I had to see her without an appointment. I am very grateful to be her patient.
Perhaps she treats her long time patients differently, but I felt extremely uncomfortable with Dr. Melkonian. She was cold and downright rude.
Dr. Rita Melkonian has been my Ob/Gyn for over fifteen years and I trust her, implicity. She has my best interest and well being. Dr. M. pulled me through two breast cancers, and one uterine cancer. By catching it early, I am cured! Dr. M. always explains a condition thoroughly and makes me feel comfortable in her elegant office. I have been going to her office for almost 30 years & she is very kind , knowledgeable , Trustworthy
Awful experience. Long story short, after leaving her office in tears I decided to get a second opinion. Turns out Dr. Melkonian was wrong. I wish I had never stepped foot in her office. Aside from being wrong, she was cold and had terrible bedside manner.
Dr. Melkonian is an expert in her field. She is excellent at listening, advising, and diagnosing. She is also a respected and excellent surgeon. I feel fortunate to be a patient of hers for many years.
