Dr. Wellman is a great, compassionate doctor. He takes the time to explain things & answer any questions. If you feel like you may have a problem, he orders tests to find out & calls you back with the results. Even when he is busy, you never feel like he is hurrying your appointment. I would highly recommend him!
Dr. Wellman was the on-call doctor that botched my C-section. After explaining 3 times to him that I was not numb, he went ahead and cut anyways. Neither the baby nor I were in any distress, so there was no hurry to get the baby out. I felt the whole surgery and was immediately knocked out once the cord was cut. I am pretty sure happy birthday was not sung to my child, but I would have no way of knowing. His bedside manner is appalling at best. If you have the philosophy that your body knows best, this is not the Dr. for you. The first question I asked him was how he felt about allowing the body to birth naturally, without induction and pain medication. His canned answer was "it is up to the woman." Sounds great in theory, but does not translate into practice. When I hit my due date, he immediately tried to schedule induction. I fought furiously, and gained myself about a week. Great Dr. He has a lot of knowledge and is very compassionate.
Dr. Wellman is the most wonderful doctor I have every had. I moved to AZ and miss everyone in the entire office. He is very caring, helpful and makes you feel at ease.
This man has an awesome bedside manner. He is supportive of birthing choices/decisions, loves to help people, specializes in infertility as well. He will spend as much time in the office with you as you want, and doesn't have the "hand on the doorknob" syndrome. He sings Happy Birthday to babies as he delivers them! I absolutely love him.
