I have been a regular patient for about 10 yrs of Dr Richard Murphy and have just had my 3rd surgery on my deteriorating spine. I think he is the best Diagnostic surgeon around. I can just tell him what is bothering me and he will walk over and ask me is it right here, as, it just about puts me to the floor. He has great patience with me and all my questions. He's the Best !!!!!
Dr. Murphy did a spinal procedure on my husband with amazing results. When we moved out of state and another specialist looked at my husband's MRI for a shoulder problem he stated he was amazed at the quality of the spinal work which he deemed equal to a good neurosurgeon.
Great Orthopedic surgeon. I have known him for years through mutual friends. He has performed back surgery and neck fusion surgery on me, Very caring and great bedside manner. Even when in pain he would make me laugh and smile.
I would give him a ZERO! He was terrible! I had 4 questions about surgery, after answering 2 and 15 minutes of discussion he started toward the door and I said I have just 2 more questions.....he literally yelled at me and said “I don’t have another 2 to 3 hours to answer your questions” then walked out!!!!!!! I was stunned, upset at this treatment, how DARE he treat ANY patient like this, OMG, I cried all the way home! I was shaking and angry, what a horrible Doctor! He did not care for my husband and showed no compassion at all when he died because of infection he got during simple back surgery and refused to see him after many phone calls. Finally had to call 911 he was in ICU 6 weeks Dr, Murphy never went to see him even after a formal request was sent to him by other Dr. he sent his asst.
Dr. Murphy performed a disc replacement surgery on me and I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon. He was very helpful and patient with my fears and questions and explained everything to me. Surgery went well pain-free and have the use of my arm again. Strongly recommend Dr. Murphy.
Dr. Murphy did a laminectomy at L4 and L5 in 2004. I totally recovered and still enjoy freedom of movement 12 years later. He also performed a neck fusion on me in 2012. The fusion has been great, however i still have pain in another neck area that Dr.Murphy treats with occasional epidural steroid injections. I lead a happy normal life at 68. I totally recommend Dr. Murphy.
His bedside.manner is rude and disrespectful. He refused to answer. Any further questions that I had. He evidently knew little about conditions such as mine and said he was referring me elsewhere.
