I was Dr Roda's patient for nearly two years. I was referred to him after a biopsy came back abnormal. He told me the results were consistent with a very rare myopathy - Myofibrillar Myopathy 5. He ordered genetic testing. An unknown variant was found but he was 85% sure I had the disease. There is no cure. There is no treatment. Obviously, this is news no one wants to hear. I was in denial. Dr. Roda was patient and extraordinarily knowledgeable about my rare diagnosis of HSP (Type 3A). I was originally diagnosed in 1987 with Cerebral Palsey. He took the time to explain and answer all of my questions. He also offered excellent recommendations for follow-up treatment at NIH and Kennedy Kreiger.
