Waited in the examine room for 45 minutes to see doctor who spent 7 minutes with me. Approach was very arrogant, kept repeating that he was a 'surgeon' and that was what he did. Did not want to discuss patient's concern about the surgery. Simply stated that it was a major surgeon with possibility of heart attach, stroke and blood clots.

A while back I was referred to Dr. Downer by another specialist, not for hip surgery but for an other ailment. Because I was not a hip replacement case he flabbergasted me by stating he could not help me in such a rude way , described not only once but twice. He maybe the best hip surgeon around but my personal opinion he should practice pathology that way he would have no contact with a live person. This man has a real ego problem and I would advice him to take a course in beside manners.

My experience of Dr. Downer was OK (he clearly is an expert), but every other aspect of contact was negative. After brief appt with him, he said his assistant would call; she never did. When having a 2nd appt with PA (who was great and answered my questions), scheduler never (2 weeks) called to follow up. Their e-mail portal does not work well and they do not reply to messages. Front desk people were lovely. The whole experience was alienating. I am working with a terrific orthopedist at another practice. Wha happened there?... read more

I saw Dr. Downer as a second opinion about groin pain. I had already seen another orthopedic provider and had a hip injection, which made things worse. I was already going to PT and not making much progress. An inguinal hernia had already been diagnosed, and once Dr. Downer heard this, he was not interested in evaluating me, but sending me on. He flat out told me I did not have a “hip problem.” When I asked him if my pain symptoms went with an inguinal hernia, he said “I don't know, I am a surgeon.” Specialists who fix herni... read more

I remember seeing Dr. Downer after the hip doctor I was seeing wasn't able to make a diagnosis from the MRI. Dr. Downer then ordered an MRI with contrast. He determined I had hip dysplasia and a frayed hip labrum. He referred me to physical therapy which didn't work. He refused to perform a surgery despite the pain being unbearable. Mind you I was a healthy individual before stepping into his office. My BMI was and still is 25 with a 11 percent body fat. If someone saw me in the gym, they'd think nothing is wrong because I t... read more

Care team only reached out after I wrote a review. He laughed in my face when I asked him if he would perform the surgery for hip dysplasia. I'm 22 years old with a background in sports. He wants me to get a steroid injection and take opiates which I refuse to do. He rather I wait until my hip is completed degenerated so he can perform a hip replacement surgery. Which cost way more than a preservation surgery like periacetabular osteotomy which is what I need. If you're an older individual already in need of a hip replacemen... read more
