Dr Meller back his employee, Dr. Alan Wexlar miss diagnosis leaving me with a severe sinus infection. He was unwilling to acknowledge that I have a medical back ground, know more than he does about pharmaceuticals (I use to lecture to his residency class at SBCH), refusing to give me antibiotics at first; then 5 days later with a fever of 103, fluid in my lungs, he prescribed amoxicillin (wrong antibiotic) even though I told him azithromycin. Tip: look up the medications the patient is taking to see what the side effects are. That might help solve the problem.
Overpriced, overbooked, absolute no concern for patients well being aside from collecting his bill and strutting about as if he is God. I would find a different Doctor.
Dr. Lum over charges compared to other Ophthmologists and the patient wait time is excessive!
1.0 star rating 12/20/15 This is the rudest, most miserable, unprofessional doctor I have ever experienced. This is also not counting his holier than thou, ubber liberal, I am better and smarter than you mindset. Which is why there is such a hatred of people like him from those who have a similar mindset. Dr. Jones performed an L-4-L5 fusion in five years ago and ended thirty years of pain. While he may not be interested in small talk, he performed magic on my back and I will forever be grateful. It's well known that Dr. Jones is the most talented spinal surgeon in Santa Barbara, but don't expect to be buddy-buddy with him. He's a big time Harvard neurosurgeon who means business, and that means perfect surgeries.
Dr. Meller is unprofessional and antagonistic. I agree with the person who wrote that this guy has some serious psych issues, and as such, I feel sorry for the staff who have to work with him in his MedCenter. For years when I had sinusitis or some urgent care type issue, I'd call the Med Center and find out if he was on shift before I decided whether it was bad enough to have to risk seeing him. Everything abut Dr. Lum and his staff was excellent. The problem I ran into was that Pacific Surgery Center was not in my insurance coverage plan. I was told cadaric surgery was covered by my insurance several times during my visits. This lead me to believe I could move forward with setting the surgery . 5 days before surgery I found out NO, my insurance will not pay for the Surgery Center and this is the only location Dr. Lum will operate at.
