Dr. Ritchie has now repaired both of my shoulders. Reattached front and back ligaments to the bone on one and repaired a torn labrum on the other. He did an excellent job with both surgeries. Dr. Ritchie is not only an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, but a genuinely outstanding man. Very impressed on all counts. His character/integrity is as important to me as his skills as a physician. Takes the time necessary to explain things and sincerely cares about his patients..
Personally, I think Dr. Ritchie is great. The office staff is horrible. The receptionist hung up on me when trying to leave a message for the MA Suzanne. Suzanne NEVER calls back. it seems the only way to get help is to go into the office or make another appointment. The wait for appointments is at least an hour. You're not a person here, just another number.
Very friendly. I don't feel rushed when asking questions and his answers are comprehensive and easy to understand. He seems totally up on the latest for issues in his profession. He shared with me the least expensive way to go and his work is top quality. He is well known in the community and I have not heard one negative or even questionable comment about him. The only concern is that when calling his assistant for questions I always go straight to voice mail and she is very slow to respond.
Dr. Ritchie is great, however his staff and office is horrible. I left multiple messages with Suzanne, his medical assistant and they either go in a black hole or are completely ignored. Also they told me they don't always get messages left with their after hours phone service. That is inexcusable to me. I finally asked the receptionist for help since I never heard from Suzanne and she did help resolve the issue but sounded totally annoyed. I felt really helpless after surgery.
He spent over an hour with me, explaining in detail what was going on in the MRI of my shoulder and how I could explain it to my wife. :) He is extremely personable and friendly, the kind of person you cold have lunch with. In the end, he admitted that mine was a special case and needed to be referred to another doctor. When I met the other doctor he said that Dr. Ritchie had spoken to him the previous week at a conference about my case. How cool that he would remember me and follow up like that
