Dr. Wittpenn was rude and inconsiderate/unprofessional to an elderly patient after the patient waited over 2 hours to see him. His response to the delay was a lecture that you don’t have to go to him and that it’s your choice. We can go to his associates or a competitor and ranted that if it was his choice he would raise the visit cost but he can’t since he is regulated. He made it sound like patients should be grateful to see him regardless of how long one wait?
Ive never encountered such rudeness! After purchasing a very expensive pair of glasses, I had problems with the arm getting bent--after the second time this happened, I was told that he "didn't have time to fix it--that it took him 20 minutes the last time this happened"...inferred that I must have done something to glasses. I went somewhere else-they were able to simply bend arm, using their bare hands, to fix glasses. They have lost my entire families business, as well as several friends. I had very bad experience with these doctors. First, they wanted to operate me for Cataracts which 3 different doctors told me I did not need. I did have cross link surgery and this where my very bad experience is based on. They operated my both eyes before I moved out of state which they knew I was leaving and offered to find a doctor in Florida to follow up. Going to OCLI Rockville Centre, Garden City and Lynbrooke for over 10 years and have had some good and some terrible experiences. Staff were often rude and did not communicate in the RVC office. Everyone was rushed, with long waits in between many eye tests administered. Nothing was explained about test results. A cataract operation was done with inadequate anesthesia, despite pt. warning and request. Followup with polishing of the lens membrane was good for one eye and not for the other. The absolute BEST there is.
Arrived 7 minutes late for the appointment in Rockville Centre (40 minutes drive one way ) and was told in a non-negotiable , uncaring manner to re-schedule or wait until other 7 patients are seen. Indifference and rudeness is the air , I would better pay a bit more but get personable service , where a patient is not a timeslot or a number...Is this what our medicine is moving towards ?
