My internist sent me to him for cortisone injections for bursitis in my hip. He didn't examine me, but said it must be my back and not my hip that was the problem and he sent me for an MRI of my back. I do have arthritis in my back, but I'm walking with a cane because of hip pain. Seeing him again, I told him it was my hip. He x-rayed it, didn't see enough and then sent me for an MRI of my hip.
