I tried to make an appointment and I found out that the doctor had retired it's a shame he was a great doctor as well as a person I seen him I trusted his decisions and I was hoping to set an appointment to have my cataract fixed on my other eye, hope you enjoy your retirement and may it be a long one, God bless!
Dr. Vollmer is a very skilled optometrist with great bedside manner. I have been a patient here for over 10 years and have always had a positive experience. Hate to hear that he retired from practice.

Dr. Volmer does NOT take time to explain anything and the staff are rude....I had an appointment and numerous people were taken in ahead of me...with no appointment I might add he acts like it is another to see anyone if they are not important in his opinion

Dr Vollmer always remembers me and my specific health issues, and takes a sincere interest. He provides photographic images and analysis of your retina as a standard part of your exam. Dr. Vollmer has hired two very competent staff to run the office in West Jefferson.
This is a very nice office! You get excellent service with reasonable rates! I'm so appreciative to them.
I chose Dr. Vollmer as my eye doctor about 5 years ago, and wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Vollmer treats me with respect and makes me feel that he cares about my eye health. The Staff are very friendly as well and very helpful in helping me to find the right eyeglasses. I would recommend Dr. Vollmer to anyone looking for a good and caring eye doctor with Staff to match!
My experience has not been good. It has taken 5 weeks to have new lenses put into my old frames. I am not sure where the exact problem occurred but I know the staff takes no initiative to follow up on problems and delays. For the laboratory to be contacted, I had to repeatedly call or go by. Many promised deliveries went unmet. In my opinion, this doctor is very much overwhelmed with patients. My exam was very brief without much discussion at all.
