My primary physician recommended Dr. Schmerler so I was hopeful to find an informed and compassionate neurologist. I found neither. Dr. Schmerler didn't seem concerned about my brain abnormality and offered no medical help. I pushed back with questions and a request for a second opinion. His staff is nice but I will never use his practice again. Even so I hesitated to write this review hoping my visit may have just been a one off for him.
Dr. Schmerler has been great. After no answers for months he knew by looking at me what was going on. He was kind and compassionate to my husband and I. He called me directly after viewing my MRI. I couldn't be happier with the care I have received and thank him from the bottom of my heart for all he has done to this point.
Most dismissive Doctor I have ever seen. Please do not go to him. Not sure why he is still in a practice. Never looked at the results. Just told me it is in my head.
Loved Dr. Schmerler. He took time to listen to me and to my aunt. I had written down my aunt's symptoms, he took the time to read them. He even talked about my aunt's passion...music. He seemed very caring and passionate.
Absolutely the worst Dr. I have ever encountered. I literally stopped explaining what I'm dealing with after a couple minutes when I could see he wasn't listening and seemed very preoccupied. He checked my reflexes then suggested seeing a university Dr. Because I have a special case..... whatever that means. No other tests were done, no scans, nothing. The appointment was on a Friday so maybe he was preoccupied thinking of the weekend. Do not waste your time here.

Never saw my scans, spent less than 5 min, seemed so dis-interested. Not going to see him again.
He doesn't listen to what you are saying. He just assumed he is right. That Dr is God mentality. Assumed I was there for seizures but have lost memory. Got test done went back asked how I felt told him. He said oh because of your seizures. NO listen and read the chart dude.
Did not look at my chart, did not look at my CT scan, really did not give me the time of day. He did not answer the questions I had. I am currently looking for another neurologist for a second opinion. It was a waste of my time.
I waited two months to get in to see him and 5 minutes was only spent with me the day I get in. He did not ask me about my past medical history, did not seem interested in what I had to say and the questions I asked were brushed off. I came out of the office in tears.
