Doctor MCAndrew is experienced, a good listener, quoted clinical evidence. But mostly helped me to an improved place in life. Professional Office with an Admin Manager. Takes my insurance. Didn’t have to wait a month. I will say he is a bit of a character with a unique personality… But how else would you want a psychiatrist?
Not a good psychiatrist at all. He diagnosed me with bipolar disorder within our first 10 minutes of meeting when I was a teen and now a few years down the line as an adult I’m beginning to question the diagnosis and seek for further answers and new possibilities. It was an hour of talking myself in circles getting nowhere because he refused to listen to me. Even prior to that he’s made me question his legitimacy, he has taken me off medications at high dosages that I’ve been on for a year or longer with no tapering to the p... read more
Be warned!!! He is more concerned about how the community thinks, rather than what is best for the person. He is concerned about weight gain, as is normal for one of my meds. However, even though I HAVEN'T gained any weight, he continues to make a big deal out of it. He's a fat shamer. He acts like a child when you confront him, and try to get him on topic, and treat you like a patient not a community. I finally had to walk out of the appointment, as talking to him was causing SEVERE anxiety
I have been seeing Dr. Mike for 6 years now, and he is very helpful. He managed to quickly get me stabilized and on a maintenance dose that has worked thus far. He takes interest in my life and spends a full 30 minutes with me for each follow-up. He's very easy to talk to and I find myself opening up about things that I would have difficulty telling friends. He worked with my son on my son's ADHD, and my son absolutely loved him!! I hope Dr. Mike never retires. Staff is great!
At first he is incredibly friendly. He certainly comes across as an odd duck. My experience though is he does not listen. We spend an hour at a time in there and he is constantly talking, looking up unrelated issues on the internet, talking about unrelated issues. A lot of time wasted. I want to go over my meds and my condition, see if any changes need to be made and get out. I'm way too busy to chit chat about non-related issues.
Stay away!! Would never recommend! Refuses to answer the most basic of questions concerning my child and became offended when he felt I was questioning his medical expertise. Cannot provide a medical rationale for providing my child with a medication for a condition my child does not have. Gave medication to a young child after only meeting him for a 1/2 hour. Does not return phone calls and personal health info not safe in his office. Had to file a complaint with the medical board.
