I treat primarily knee and hip patients non-operatively here at Ortho Illinois and serve as Medical Director for both OrthoIllinois and OrthoIllinois Surgery Center. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I've helped someone return to a healthy, normal and active lifestyle. Helping people is just about the most rewarding thing I can think of.

Amazing physician. He is the best and truly cares.
Dr.Chmell is a excellent dr. He went way beyond just doing my knee replacement. When I complained about other problems with my leg that could not be normal he . Consulted two of his colleagues while I was there. They were glad too look at my hip and my spine with in a short time that same day they found a large syst on my spine. Not only was Dr Chmell doing his normal job he went way beyond! Bless you Dr. ! For going way beyond your expectations Thank you. Holly Becker
Dr. Chmell did a total knee replacement 2/15/16. I feel it was a total success and am back to doing my normal activities of daily living without any difficulties. I highly recommend Dr. Chmell.
Dr Schmell did my knee surgery almost two and a half years ago. He is right, he is a man of few words, but I am not a person who wants to chit chat with my surgeon. He surely told me all that I would need to know, and explained things very well concerning the surgery, My family was dumbfounded when my surgery was over before they could finish lunch.
