When my previous doctor retired, she recommended Dr. Backens. I had never even heard of him, but I am so glad she referred me. I'm very discriminating and careful about the doctors I pick; and honestly, there's nothing that I don't like about Dr. Backens or his genuinely caring, cheerful, accommodating staff. He is gracious, very knowledgeable, friendly, and humble. He has a gentle bedside manner and really listens to you with no 'airs'. From our first visit we have had nothing but problems with this office starting at the front desk up to the office manager.. All had a very nasty attitude every time something was addressed at their office via office or phone.. My dad is 80 years old do not go here all they care about is money and not helping with your care.. Never seen a office that wants you to come in every few months for this and that..now that my dad was hospitalized and in rehab unless my my dad comes in the office they will not refill his blood pressu... read more
I contacted the office to schedule with this doctor nearly a year ago. Got an appointment 3 months later. They said I could fill out paperwork online or come early on the day of the appointment to do it. I called a few days before appointment and was told the office would be closed the day of my appointment and that they had NOT scheduled me with Dr. Backens. I love the genuine interest and focused attention I always get during my visits. I feel very comfortable talking with Dr. Carter; she listens and dialogues with me. She always encourages and challenges me to take control of my well-being. 5+
Dr. Obermeyer is knowledgeable and up to date on medical information. She is kind and patient and gives you time to talk and understand any questions you have. I think she is the best doctor I have ever had.
Dr. Obermeyer is very thorough with her exams/appts. She is always prepared to discuss concerns and researches any areas discussed to suggest the best follow-up options.
The first 2 visits were ok, but the last one was terrible. She never sat down and started off with ' I don't know why they keep sending you to me, you are not my patient.' Called in a prescription and walked out. The prescription was not for the issue I was having. She was in the room less than 5 minutes. You go to a doctor in your most vulnerable state. When I left I sat in the parking lot and cried.
Dr. Obermeyer not only takes time with her patients but is on top of everything. Have NEVER had a doctor call me with my results on a Sunday to make sure I did not have any anxiety about test results.
Dr. Amabile is the epitome of an amazing doctor that truly cares for his patients. I suddenly became very ill, no one could figure out what was wrong and just kept pushing me off and telling me it was in my head. I ended up spending about 15k outside of insurance seeing various doctors/specialists, etc...all to be told it was just in my head. Dr. Amabile is the ONLY one that never said it was in my head.
